Custom Facades

The East Spring Valley Firehouse in Nanuet NY in Rockland County has one dominant architectural detail. The aluminum cornice crowns the structure. The material used was a .040 Kynar Aluminum sheet manufactured by Petersen Aluminum. The sheets were formed into prefabricated aluminum cornice components with aluminum splice plates. The sandstone aluminum has a deep radius panel. The aluminum cornice comes in ten foot sections. The assembly of the custom cornice is achieved with prefabricated metal corners and custom colored aluminum trims and splice plates. The firehouse façade also includes custom insulated metal wall panels at the top of the window wall. The cornice details were designed by the project architect. A cornice prototype was produced by Nyack Fabricators and fit to the metal framing by the roofing contractor for final field measurements. The pieces were then redesigned and manufactured by Nyack Fabricators and delivered to the site.

All metal corners were prefabricated in the Nyack Fabricators plant. Protective plastic sheets are peeled back after installation. All building cornice components are attached with hidden fasteners and custom colored rivets.

The ten foot sections of .040 building cornice weigh only 23 lbs and are easily handled by two men. The East Spring Valley Firehouse contains over 400 feet
of cornice.

The clean lines of the aluminum building cornice with matching roof trim provide
an elegant finish to this new firehouse design.
